Comment (by MikeHansenMe):
I see no reason to have the ability to hide the header text
- Some people do not like to show this at the top and it is a core
function so I think we should leave it
If the header text color is customizable, that color control should
change all of the white text in the navbar, sidebar, and footer (ie, it
shouldn't be a header text control)
- This is a core function as well but lets leave it as is and not
try changing anything else based on it.
So, do we really want the custom header feature at all? Having the
header itself requires us to use $( window ).on('scroll' ... JS, which is
laggy and one of the reasons we removed the fixed navbar in Twenty
Thirteen
- I am fine with removing this, if we leave it thought it looks
like the gap problem still exists with a custom header image
Do we really need a custom background feature? This is more necessary
since we're not doing #25013 (one of the reasons I wanted to do that). For
the sake of simplicity, would a custom background color, but not image, be
sufficient, since the background is only in the right margin?
- I think a background image is a good thing to leave it allows
everyone using the theme to change it just a bit.
The "Theme Options" section should be renamed to something like
"social links". But is it a theme's position to specify these? Even when
switching to a child theme, they need to be re-entered. This seems like
plugin or maybe core territory.
- Usually I feel things are plugin territory however this is tied
closely with the theme and should stay IMO. Fine with renaming it.
Additionally, here are some things that would be useful if added:
The green and lighter green colors should be customizable with a color
picker (call them "accent" colors?)
It would be nice if the black header/right sidebar/footer background
color could be changed. There would be a lot of flexibility there if the
text color could also be changed, but still a fair amount without that.
- this would be a cool feature but could be built in a plugin
