Comment:

 Viper, you're right : it does not happen with all plugins. Here are the
 plugins which do not show up in the plugins list :
 -  [http://www.sonsofskadi.net/extended-live-archive/ Live Extended
 Archive] :  it used to appear in the list)
 - [http://automattic.com/code/widgets/ Widgets plugin] : installed last
 night for the first time, it never showed up in the list)

 I thought maybe it's because they sit in directories but I have other
 plugins in directories and they behave normally. Directories have sensible
 names (archives, widgets). File permissions are 644 for every plugin.

 Ps : I made no attachment as these plugins contain several files. Hope I
 did right.
