 @joostdevalk if you believe the data should be made available to everyone,
 disclose the data you have obtained, but please do whatever is necessary
 to remove person identifying information. It will bypass this entire
 discussion and benefit every plugin developer. Subsequently, you’ll
 absolve yourself from our (I’m not alone) accusations.

 If any random plugin would obtain data from its users like you are
 suggesting, it will crown WordPress as spyware. The plugins will then do
 things out of scope of their project, which is against Open Source
 principles (and common decency). Moreover, data is already acquired by
 loading assets externally — even “innocent” images do that, which I
 believe is also against plugin guidelines.
