When a end user search for a theme they come with some criteria for example:
A)
As I travel the world I want to blog and I want a themes that reflect
travel.
B)
I want a online presence for my small business, which provides pet
services. I want a theme that supports eCommerce and has pet store look.
When I am talking about industry taxonomies I meant for example:
- Food
-- Restaurant
-- takeaways
-- cafes
- Commerce
-- shops/business
-- eCommerce
- Technology
-- software
-- hardware
-- apps
-- hosting
-- network
- Transportation
-- car hire
-- travel agents
-- bus/coach
- Religion
-- Christianity
-- Judaism
-- Islam
- Orgs
-- NGOs
-- charities
( taxonomy above is not according to any standard)
I am sure others will agree with me that such taxonomies will help the end
users find the theme fit for the purpose.
There is nothing to say a theme designed for an aforementioned industry
could not be used in another.
Then you have another taxonomy for the feature or theme support those
should be a sign of which features of the core (eg: thumbnails, comments,
widgets) the theme provide support.
