That's neat.  The implication of this is that every separate static
metadata field will require its own plugin, though.  It might be better
to build a single plugin that can present any static metadata and has a
configuration interface to specify them.

On a side note, I see that the CVS is hinting that plugins in 1.3 will
be active on the plugins page.  That should be of interest to plugin
devs wanting to modify the plugins page itself (for options or improved
plugin management).
