Comment:

 I'm going to close this one out as a `wontfix`. There has been no
 meaningful activity in 10 years.

 It's also highly likely that this problem was fixed somewhere along the
 way. In WordPress 4.9, CodeMirror was merged into Core to improve the way
 plugin and theme files were edited in the admin area.
