Comment:

 Today is beta 1 day for 5.8 and the cutoff for this ticket to make the
 release. Because there is still investigation happening to pinpoint the
 issue, I am going to punt this.

 If a committer is able and interested in working on this between now and
 the deadline later today, it can be moved back.
