 There's a lot of overriding happening in `\wp\api.js`; that's where the X
 -WP-Nonce header is set and fetched.

 It's interesting that the XHR object documented there is not, in fact, an
 XHR object, and I can't see anything that's overriding fetch on the model.
 Sync is being extended, but that shouldn't be changing anything about the
 fetch.

 Might be able to follow the path used for adding nonces to get this
 header. I'm currently looking at that.
