Comment (by ryelle):
I'm happy to tweak the colors, but I think we need more greys in core than
Gutenberg — I quickly ran the replacement with these greys, and found a
few issues due to the fact that there are no greys between `#1e1e1e` and
`#757575`
- [https://cloudup.com/i_kobRLsvo4 The admin menu] is lacking contrast
around submenus, except in the secondary submenu which has a lot of
contrast :)
- [https://cloudup.com/ive_4KJ47t1 The secondary text color] uses
`#757575`, which doesn't have enough contrast against the grey background
(that color barely passes on white)
The design team did [https://make.wordpress.org/design/2020/09/18/project-
reducing-colors-in-core/ approve this original palette], so I think we
have two options:
1. Go ahead with the color updates as currently exist in the PR and
screenshots, and once more of core is cleaned up we could start bringing
in the greyscale greys to replace the blue-greys (perhaps as other GB
style patterns also move into core)
- Optionally, add "Gray 2": `#ececed` (this is halfway between Grey 0 and
Grey 5)
2. Discard this PR, create more greys in the gutenberg palette, and spin
up another replacements PR to use those new colors.
I'm happy to work closer with a designer to create a more comprehensive
set of greys, but I do think approach 1 makes more sense.
