Comment (by johnjamesjacoby):
Attached above is a screenshot of Chrome's Web Inspector. Did you know the
tabs I've emphasized can be dragged and dropped into whatever order you
want them in? Whether you did or did not know this, it's a feature that
exists, and has existed since nearly the beginning of the web inspector.
For all of the customizable preferences that Chrome Inspector does provide
(and they provide extensive preferences compared to WordPress' Screen
Options) tried for 10 minutes and could not find a way to reorder these
tabs without using a cursor.
Do y'all believe Chrome should do what is being suggested in this ticket,
and lock this ability behind a click-to-engage toggle? If so, then our
opinions on how software can and should work continue to be completely at
opposite ends of the spectrum.
WordPress itself has so many other instances of UI that are draggable and
droppable with the same design language as meta-boxes, the slope with this
ticket is extremely slippery. Widgets. Menus. Customizer controls. They
have alternative interfaces that do not compromise the simplicity of
dragging & dropping, and this is absolutely not a single bit different.
