 I would really encourage to resolve this after so many years. I fully
 support the plan to make WordPress itself native JavaScript and make the
 latest version of jQuery available to plugin/theme developers to utilize.
 The upgrade path that @azaozz mentioned a week ago seems the way to go to
 me. Giving authors and site owners plenty of time to prepare.
