 While we're on it, another related system on the wishlist would be a
 logging system with categories like errors, warnings and informational
 notices.

 Many plugin error messages that could go in a Logging System rather than a
 lengthy notification message - there can be a notification about  new
 errors, but notices wouldn't need one.
