Can we step back from the design for a moment and think through a
realistic implementation of such a feature?
If the idea is to notify users that they have a plugin installed which
already provides the feature they are searching for, then it seems
critical that we also point them to the relevant location to use said
feature. It's not very helpful to search for a feature and be told that an
installed plugin already provides it when I'm not aware of it in the first
place.
The mockups suggest that this communication would be possible through a
contextual hyperlink that points the user in the right direction, such as
an appropriate settings page. It seems like plugin developers would have
to add logic to their plugins that serves up the appropriate hyperlink
based on the search term. Then core would have to look for those matching
terms in the plugin's code in order to display the appropriate hyperlink.
Is it realistic to expect that most plugin developers would provide such
contextual links, and if they do not, is the feature worth implementing if
it can't fully deliver on the job it is supposed to do?
