Comment:

 I am a retired developer and so I really do appreciate you looking into
 this.

 I could use CSS if I pay for an upgrade theme, but this theme doesn't
 allow it.  The only search box I'm aware for this theme is to the right of
 the main menu options near the top of the page. I can type in the search
 box but it just has a white font on white background and so the characters
 being type is not visible.  When I change the focus to anywhere else on
 the page, the background changes back to a slightly darker color, allowing
 what I had typed to appear.

 This problem occurs on my Linux box using firefox, on 2 other PC Windows
 10 using firefox and by other people on their own systems. So I don't
 think it's anything I have configured.

 I appreciate that if you cannot duplicate the problem, then you won't be
 able to fix it.
