 @michelleweber has also been encountering this issue recently while
 helping new users, and pinged me to chat about it. She suggested some copy
 changes to your patch, @westonruter:

 > Your theme has 2 other widget areas, but this particular page doesn’t
 display them.
 >
 > You can navigate to other pages on your site while using the Customizer
 to view and edit the widgets displayed on those pages.

 With these copy changes in place, I'd love to see this in 4.7.4.

 I'd like to also reconsider contextually showing things as a whole, but we
 can look at that in another iteration.
