 Hi @adamsilverstein I was seeing the exact error message:

     [19-Apr-2016 19:18:41 UTC] PHP Fatal error:  Maximum execution time of
 30 seconds exceeded in /www/wp-includes/class-wp-image-editor-imagick.php
 on line 338

 And inside the WP media manager it shows HTTP Error "filename.jpg" where
 the filename is the name of the file attempted to be uploaded.

 I'll confer with our hosting customer about this. I do not want to alter
 the functions.php file on a live site without permission. I'll ask him if
 the fix corrected his issue and post back.
