 I agree with Morton entirely.  I've been doing WordPress development
 professionally for 2+ years, and I've never once used a post format or
 directed a client to use one.  That could be ignorance on my part, but
 consider this: Support for post formats is not even required by the Theme
 Review team.

 To me, it shows that Post Formats are at best an optional enhancement for
 users.  Given that they don't appear to be that widely used, and aren't
 even supported by a majority of themes (based on Shawn's research), they
 should not be a core feature.
