 I agree that post formats needs to be improved, not removed from core.
 That would be a step backward. I'm glad to see this ticket closed as
 wontfix.

 It is because of WordPress' support for post formats that I was able to
 migrate the tumblelog I publish from Tumblr to WordPress near the end of
 2013. That was something I'd been wanting to do for years prior to that
 point, because Tumblr simply wasn't innovating.

 It's true WordPress contains features that not everyone uses, and there's
 nothing wrong with that. There are ways to easily hide or remove post
 formats from the editor if they're not needed or wanted in a WordPress
 site.

 By all means let's have a discussion about how to make post formats work
 better. In the meantime, keep post formats in core.
