 Great idea IMHO. I'm not sure why this hasn't been brought so far.

 I'm just wondering about the pingbacks/trackbacks (`ping_status`) - i
 believe this one should be disabled by default for pages, too? I'm not
 100% sure though (second opinion would be needed here).
