Comment (by afercia):

 Refreshed patch just to illustrate the last comment approach. Still uses a
 new class `.was-accordion-section-title` (temporary name) but just on the
 Menu Customizer. The other unnecessary events are removed using some more
 specific jQuery selectors in `customize-controls.js`
