 Given that this function doesn't do anything that can't be accomplished by
 other means - it's mostly a wrapper to simplify a common task - I think
 it's not crucial to filter it.

 I do note that it's standard for template functions to provide a means to
 alter their output html, so I'm not sure why is such a big deal to offer
 that in this function.
