 One thing I didn't see mentioned here (apologies if I missed it) is this:
 @nathanrice, how many times have you dealt with or seen support requests
 from users who modified Genesis (the parent theme), then updated it and
 wiped out their changes? Everyone else: how many times have you heard of
 that happening with other themes?

 To me, that's the real argument in favor of this.
