 Could we use the existing templates?

 That is the plan. I decided to approach the problem by first getting
 everything working and then afterwords plan to go back and clean things
 up.

 For anyone that is following along, I am using
 https://github.com/gcorne/develop.wordpress/tree/trac-24409 to keep track
 of my work and will be posting a patch with the "replace image"
 functionality implemented later today.
