 I tested trunk and Twenty Fourteen, using both Weston's sample mu-plugin
 and by modifying Twenty Fourteen directly, and I couldn't reproduce the
 reported behaviour.

 Nick, the gif shows that you were using your ''Lucidus'' theme when the
 problem occurs, but your later comment indicates you could reproduce with
 Twenty Fourteen. Can you still produce this issue on a clean trunk
 install?
