 may include galleries, pages with different sorts of images among them and
 different kinds of sections that all have different layouts? Wow!

 And what about texts? Why, in that case, themes should not decide how
 texts are styled? Why images should have a different approach that texts?

 The truth is that some themes do have images styling build in. But that
 mainly applies to post categories and post archives when listing blog
 posts. That's fine. But I've never seen a theme offering '''build in image
 styling''' for images you insert from the Media Library. Where have you
 seen that?
