Comment:

 You can always use a keyboard shortcut or contextual menu for select all,
 as well as triple click in many instances. I'm quite averse to this type
 of focus-and-select-all behavior - it either catches me off guard or
 actually gets in my way as opposed to being helpful. We also don't do it
 anywhere else in core.
