Comment:

 We had a [http://irclogs.wordpress.org/chanlog.php?channel=wordpress-
 dev&day=2013-10-18&sort=asc#m708824 bit of a discussion on IRC] about
 this, and I think the best thing to do for now is let this lie for a bit.
 Let's see what happens in the wider ecosystem (Drupal 8, for example) with
 this sort of stuff before making a decision in any direction.
