 My worry is that this composer.json patch being put forward will make it
 into core, and then people like myself will have to resort to a raft of
 horrendous kludges and hacks to undo what's in the core composer.json.
 This latest patch is a step backwards, and I would prefer to have no
 composer.json at all if this patch is the alternative
