Comment:

 I find the reasoning very convincing, and the change is certainly
 something I can live with. I'd like to echo Matias thoughts though, that
 especially with #f3f3f3 we lose some of the glorious contrast MP6
 introduced. #f1f1f1 would make me significantly happier, though, and seems
 like the best of both worlds.
