 I tested [attachment:24046.3.diff] pretty thoroughly last night and I
 think it's working really well.  Some sort of placeholder for the
 permalink might be a good idea simply because that blank space feels odd
 if it's not directly above the editor.  I played with a couple options
 locally but didn't find anything I especially love.  I'd like to see this
 get in so we can get some more eyes on it during beta.
