 Seems to be a CSS problem. [https://github.com/scottjehl/Respond
 Respond.js] (mentioned in [comment:ticket:21440:4] and in the
 [https://irclogs.wordpress.org/chanlog.php?channel=wordpress-
 dev&day=2012-09-28&sort=asc#m467589 IRC chat] as another potential
 solution) gives the same results.
