 I'm not sold on the `add_theme_support()` implementation, because as you
 noted, once adoption is widespread, `add_theme_support()` becomes
 superfluous. If that's the way it gets implemented, so be it. My major
 concern is the standardization of nomenclature and Theme locations/actions
 where such hooks get fired.

 As for the implementation process: yeah, that's pretty much how I see it.

 If I were to start up a conversation among the Theme Developers, should I
 direct them to this ticket, or just start a discussion thread on the
 make.wordpress.org/themes site?
