Comment:

 The lack of many editing buttons is one of features of distraction free
 writing.

 See the original mini-specification on
 [http://wpdevel.wordpress.com/2011/03/18/wordpress-3-2-the-plan-faster-
 lighter/ WordPress 3.2, the plan: faster, lighter] -- "only limited RTE
 functionality" -- and the dev chat logs from back in March.

 Closing as wontfix as this seems a clear-cut decision to me.
