 While we are bringing up issues, one architectural issue in core WordPress
 is slugs must be unique in the wp_posts table. This already causes me
 trouble but I think will cause a lot more people trouble when many
 different post types are introduced.

 I can easily see the need to have identical trailing path segments in
 different URL paths. This is probably another ticket but this ticket can
 drive demand for a resolution so I thought it would be good to discuss it
 here.
