 The whole issue is that, unlike most widgets, menu items aren't stand-
 alone entities. They're tied to another object on the site; or at least,
 that's the idea.

 Otherwise, we could just make a menu out of arbitrary links. Much easier
 to manage, but might cause broken links if, for example, a user removes a
 page and forgets to update the menu.
