 Regarding responsiveness: I did some informal testing, using a custom
 widget that contained the page dropdown; created 100 pages and then
 created 10-20 instances of the widget. I saw no apparent slowdowns in
 Firefox 3.6 or the latest Chrome. So it seems there is no performace
 block, as I had suggested.

 But then again, if they're all just blank menu items, you might as well
 have a button that says "Give me 5 new page menu items". Then, you can
 choose the page for each one from it's respective dropdown.
