 Last check on the site, all comments previously listed in sidebar [Recent
 Comments] after importing my original DB are now missing [along with
 Admin/Comments].

 I just loaded a sitemap plugin [Dagon Design Sitemap Generator v3.14]. It
 is  configured to list the number of comments per post - and the numbers
 are there.

 I'm downloading my error_log and it is gigantic so it will take a while
