 Well the socket is connecting to something. Since the address it connects
 to is from your site_url set in the Wordpress options, that means it is
 trying to connect to your site. Since the socket isn't returning an error,
 and your log isn't showing the connection, the problem is definitely
 within your host's set-up.

 I would suggest posting this at http://wordpress.org/support/ Perhaps
 someone there has experienced a similiar problem with their hosting
 provider and can give you a better direction on getting it fixed.
