Comment (by error):

 I'm having exactly the same problem, for a different reason: my web server
 only serves the "localhost" virtual host on the loopback interface, and my
 hostname was defined in /etc/hosts as follows:
 ::1 www.homelandstupidity.us
 Removing this definition seems to have fixed the problem.
