 For the plugin authors following this:

 If you're planning to make a plugin release in the next week or two, and
 have a significant number of users (100k+?), if you're willing to beta-
 test something, DM me on Slack (@dd32).

 We can, with minimal effort:
  - Disable Automatic updates for a plugin release for 24hrs following
 initial release - The majority of users who perform the update will need
 to manually click update.
  - After 24hrs (or anything else we agree on) we can then enable the auto-
 updates.

 The intention would be to gauge how WordPress users react to a plugin not
 updating straight away, and whether this allows for time for users to
 report bugs in the version OR whether many sites update anyway.
