 {{{
 one of the reasons the growth chart was removed was because it was giving
 inaccurate data
 }}}

 - If the actual data is inaccurate, how can the active installs milestone
 that's displayed on the plugin listings be accurate? Should we do away
 with that too?
 - If the active installs metric/milestones are inaccurate, why do they
 still hold one of the highest weightage in the plugin rankings? How does
 this justify a fair play?
 - If the milestones are somehow accurate, why can't we use the same data
 source to provide an accurate growth tracker as well?

 Plugin development and support requires significant time, efforts and
 cost. The number of sites actively using the plugin is a key metric which
 indicates how those efforts are affecting the plugin's growth and how to
 iterate based on this.

 Not knowing the installation trends until we reach a higher milestone or
 breach a lower one can be exceedingly risky for plugin devs and is way
 more speculative than what is being reasoned for the removal of the stats.

 Unilaterally removing such a widely referenced piece of metric, by a
 closed group, without a wider discussion with the community and blatantly
 ignoring these requests for years now is against the spirit of opensource
 and democracy in general.

 We still haven't heard of any real rational reason behind this abrupt
 removal even after all this time and I hope someone pays attention and
 helps bring it back in one form or another soon, if they really support
 the community of plugin devs who've contributed to the WordPress project
 and helped it grow throughout these years.
