 Thanks for explaining. I understand how it works now.

 Personally i would agree with @Otto42 that it should be disabled on the
 photos directory. For the directory to be useful you would want to have
 direct access to all the photos. Because of the page limit I thought the
 photos archive was a lot smaller than it is.

 Google image search has generated a lot of traffic for my sites so I would
 suggest its worth getting all the images ranked.
