Doug:

Excellent feedback, and very much thanks for the link. I look forward to reading it when I have time to ponder it in depth.

Mike:
John Gruber linked to an interesting post from a former Googler (now
FriendFeeder?) called "Communicating With Code":

http://paulbuchheit.blogspot.com/2009/01/communicating-with-code.html

The crux of the argument is that points made in the abstract are very
difficult to get folks to see the implications of, let alone throw their
weight behind, so whip something up (a rapid prototype, if you will) and
even if it sucks, it'll get folks talking and then something GOOD will
likely result.

It really seems as if your arguments are not reaching at least a segment of
the population here on this list. So, I'd advocate that you flesh something
out and propose it, either via a Trac ticket w/patch, a blog post
describing your change[s] to the core to allow for micromessaging support,
or heck, even a diagram describing a process you'd like to see the WP
community adopt, then send the link to the list. We can comment on tickets
or on posts and, hopefully, get a more focused discussion going without
further clogging up the mailing list.
