[wp-hackers] Custom Fields on Attachments

I was thinking it would be logically possible to add custom fields to
attachments since WordPress creates a new "post" for each attachment.
I can't seem to find a hook that would allow this though and I know the new
interface for attachments is flash. Is this even possible.

The reason I ask is I want to add a "order number" field to my uploads.
Currently I am using the caption/post_content field.
