BTW, I think that the styled UI widgets have their place. Things I would 
never style:

* Scrollbars
* Dropdowns
* Browser chrome

In the link I sent I think the stars thing is brilliant. I've seen this 
done on dozens of websites but always in a silly JS way that doesn't 
degrade nicely.

Where we can progressively enhance the interface in more usable but 
non-standard ways we should. An example: the way the labels change color 
when you hover over them in the category list. This is non-standard, but 
it helps people understand that they can click anywhere on that line.

Another: How the category list is styled to scroll in CSS and a bunch of 
checkboxes rather than being one of those annoying boxes you have to 
hold down ctrl and click multiple items to select multiple things, like 
every CMS I'd seen had done it before WP.

We should keep an open mind about these things, it's a tradeoff and 
we're all intelligent so we can weigh both sides, make a decision, and 
move on.

(The darker reason I sent this link was to wake the list from its 
slumber. :))
