It's all about audience, so if Khaled wants to lose a few users, let him :D
I jest, I jest.
But seriously, on my way home from work, I thought of two more KILLER
arguments for my side. I'll just vent them and get it out of my system.
Michael, you'll like this one.
Standard vs. Non-Standard UI Widgets are kinda like the original
(non-special edition) Star Wars trilogy vs. the new prequel trilogy.
The old ones might look a bit dated, but EVERYONE knows them, and the
story is solid. Just like non-standard UI widgets.
Styled UI widgets, on the other hand, are all bells and whistles... Some
like them, some don't, and some are undecided. You might get used to
them, and learn to love them, but they're not a safe bet like the old ones.
Jar Jar Binks, specifically, is like a styled drop-down box. It looks
good at first, then you discover just how crappy it really is.
Anyone laughing yet? Thank you, thank you.
To end up this rant on a darker note:
Perfection is finally attained not when there is no longer anything to
add but when there is no longer anything to take away, when a body has
been stripped down to its nakedness.
- Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Have a nice evening and weekend.
