[theme-reviewers] What happened to default sidebar widgets?

Today, i realized that defaults themes are no longer use default sidebar
widgets. Why?  While _s theme suggests using
it<https://github.com/Automattic/_s/blob/master/sidebar.php>,
why default themes removed that?

What is your opinion on this?
