[theme-reviewers] Grandfather Themes?

There is nothing 'right' or 'wrong' about containing extra features in a
theme; as long as the theme adheres to coding of the latest revision of
WordPress (and security guidelines) UNLESS a WordPress dev says that it will
cause problems with the core coding*.

*case in point being the popup info's that Nacin said not to use in themes
and plugins.

Here's my 2 cents.

Whether themes are created today or 2 years ago, its always good to practice
to do things the right way.

Regarding some features from old themes, it can definitely be released as a
plugin. And no matter what the argument, if a user is capable enough to
setup a WordPress site and install a theme, they can very well install
another plugin too.

Harish
