[theme-reviewers] Question about Plugin Territory

Hi all,

I was assigned a theme to review which has social media sharing buttons
incorporated into its customisation options. I thought this would fall
under plugin territory. Te guidelines state that content sharing buttons
are not allowed -

I suggested the theme be marked "not-approved" as a result of this.
However, the theme author has since got back to me with a good defence,
see: http://themes.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/13137#comment:4.

Have I misinterpreted the guidelines for plugin territory somehow?
