Hello theme review team. I've been reading this thread and I have a few
ideas to consider, "or just tap delete". I'm not sure if your open to
suggestions from non-active users of the mailing list. I'd like to help
out when circumstances permit. Until I get a job and actually make some
money doing what I enjoy I don't think I'd be a productive member. I do
like reading the emails and learning what I can from the conversations
here though. Enough about me, here are my thoughts:
I like the idea of having a separate "section" in the repository for
niche themes. If these type themes are going to get approved it could
become a congestion issue for the majority of users. Maybe a list of
pro's and con's will help throw the idea out with the least amount of
explanation.
*The possible issues:*
1. The need to create a separate process for the niche themes
(/adding to the already busy reviewer's schedule/).
2. A good possibility that the mailing list will receive a
significant increase of /"I submitted my theme 3 days ago, why
hasn't..."/
3. /___________________________________________________ * This
line intentionally left blank for reasons unknown to "inactive
users (me)./
*The Benefits:*
1. A much faster turn-out for approved/rejected themes once the
initial process is hashed out and agreed upon.
2. A chance for new theme reviewers to join that might be
intimidated by the process or don't think they can find the time
to join now
3. The increase of memberships could relieve the workload of the
current review team, and should uncover at least a few "diamonds
in the rough"
4. By separating the themes in the Repo you make it easier for the
users that do/don't care about the niche themes.
5. Maybe kill two birds with one stone and merge the child themes
into the new subsection
As I mentioned earlier, I don't know enough about the current process to
say my thoughts hold any truth. I just thought I'd put my 2 cents in
the pot.
If a separate section is formed I'll get the ball rolling and sign up.
No guarantee I'll be able very be productive, but I guaranteeI'll*/
